I’ll produce great content. Guaranteed.
A savvy veteran of newspaper and magazine journalism, public relations, market research, and website/email content creation, I will focus my talents and skills on your tough content-creation assignments.
That involves taking your input — whether an interview with you, a draft you’ve struggled with, or a bunch of raw documents — and creating awesome content. The output could be a press release, web copy, white paper, newsletter, bylined article, even an entire book.
Or if you have gaining publicity or building awareness in mind, I know how to get your story to the right media professionals and bloggers. I know how reporters and editors think and work and what they need (such as visuals and arranged interviews) to get your story out there.
Call or e-mail me today and let’s talk about your document-creation challenges. Our first consultation is always free. And my work is guaranteed. 303-746-9928 or [email protected].
Meet Bob
Hailing from Detroit, Bob ventured East to college during 1963-1969, gaining a Bachelor’s degree cum laude in Economics from Princeton and a Master’s degree in Regiona Studies from Harvard.
He worked as a reporter for The Detroit Free Press and, after moving to Boulder in 1970, at the Rocky Mountain News (where he designed and edited their Sunday magazine) and was later business editor of the Boulder Daily Camera.
He also co-founded and co-published two successful regional magazines out of Boulder, the first a newcomer-visitor guide that was the precursor of today’s Boulder Magazine and a monthly real estate magazine, Where to Live in Boulder County.
Pursuing a growing interest in telecom and the media industry, Bob moved to Boston in 1980 to join The Yankee Group, a leading market research and consulting firm, where he wrote research studies and managed their Home of the Future division, speaking at industry conferences and consulting to major corporate clients.
Returning to Boulder in 1983, as a freelancer, he wrote more than 200 magazine articles and white papers for CableLabs. He then authored research studies on contract for specialty publishers, including: Channel Compression: A Strategic Analysis (Paul Kagan Associates); The Interactive Home (Warren Publishing); and Cable Modem Report (Cowles/Simba and in Japanese by ASCII Books).
His most recent job took him to Amsterdam as a senior consultant with Solista (a unit of Gartner) during 1999-2000, providing counsel to a leading Europe-based cable and broadband provider.
Beginning in 2009, he created and ran an online magazine, The Boulder Reporter. He also blogged for The Huffington Post.
Since then, he has managed an investment portfolio and lived a relatively quiet life in Boulder, providing editing and writing services to his wife’s PR and marketing agency, Wells Communications, and to other clients.
Raving Fans
“Robert Wells has distinguished himself over the years as one of the most professional members of the media and communications community. I have followed his work as a magazine publisher, as a Business Editor of the Daily Camera, and most recently as he has developed a lively and informative website called Boulder Reporter. I am a great admirer of his journalistic skills, his ability to organize information and write about it knowledgeably and accurately, and his eloquent command of language. In his copywriting work for my company, Vermilion, he produced web copy that was accurate, usable, and very well received by clients. I recommend him strongly as a very impressive media professional.”
— Bob Morehouse, Founder and former CEO, Vermilion
“I am struck by Bob’s sharp intellect, his excellent and well-rounded education, and, in particular, his exceptional writing and editing ability. I know that he would be a reliable and welcome associate in any media venture, including web strategizing, web copywriting, and managing of creative projects involving outside writers, videographers and other collaborators.”
— Jeff Salzman, The Integral Center
“I have known Bob Wells as a business collaborator and friend for over 30 years. I can attest to his abilities on many fronts: as an extremely skilled writer and editor; as a very well organized and conscientious business person; and as one who collaborates exceptionally well with colleagues and clients.
